I designed the shape of this spoke shave to function better and be more comfortable while pulling rather than pushing the tool. This technique works particularly well if the chair parts are made while sitting on a shaving horse.

As you use this tool, you will discover that the blade is fitted so that one side makes a thicker shaving and the other side a very fine shaving. This enables you to remove material quickly or take very fine finish shavings with the same tool. The brass wear plate eliminates wear on the shoe, therefore, once fitted the blade requires no further adjustment.
